Cowboys hats and boots will no longer be allowed if you want to be a deputy in one Wyoming county — a move so odious to one longtime deputy that it caused him to quit.

The new sheriff of Sublette County, Stephen Haskell, banned deputies from wearing western attire as part of a new dress code, according to an Associated Press report.

Instead, deputies will have to wear black trousers, a tan shirt, black boots, and a black ball cap in order to meet the new code, with the argument that the change was necessary to improve uniformity and safety.

Police officers’ response to protests in Ferguson, Missouri, last year triggered a national debate about surplus military equipment sent to and used by local law enforcement agencies.

State Sen. Brian Kelsey, R-Germantown, wants the General Assembly to take up the issue this year. He’s filed legislation that would prohibit state and local agencies from owning or using “certain military vehicles, aircraft and weaponry.” The legislation would also require that current inventories of military surplus gear be sold or disposed of.

North Korea will bar entry to foreigners on tourist trips from Friday, because of worries over the spread of the deadly Ebola virus, operators of tours to the isolated country told Reuters.

At least 4,877 people have died in the world’s worst recorded outbreak of Ebola, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates, with nearly 10,000 cases recorded by Oct. 19, though the true toll could be three times as much.

The Jamaican Government has issued an immediate travel ban against certain persons travelling directly or indirectly from or through the Ebola-affected West African countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

A statement from the National Security Ministry says the ban extends to persons ordinarily resident in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone as well as persons who have travelled to or transited through the countries in the past 28 days.

The travel ban also extends to Commonwealth citizens, not citizens of Jamaica, who have travelled to or transited through Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone within 28 days of their arrival to Jamaica.

Denmark is planning to banish bestiality, following the recent examples of Germany and Norway, said the country’s food and agriculture minister. The bill was long-awaited both inside the country and abroad.

“I have decided that we should ban sex with animals. That is happening for numerous reasons. The most important is that in the vast majority of cases it is an attack against the animals,” the food and agriculture minister, Dan Jørgensen, told Ekstra Bladet, a Danish tabloid.

In May, the Environmental Protection Agency’s inspector general disclosed that a senior-level employee was caught spending as much as six hours of his day looking at porn. The IG found that the employee had downloaded and viewed more than 7,000 pornographic files. The Justice Department is investigating further for possible prosecution.
